28 has officially been released….

… and I am sooooo thankful!  I love the feedback and just all of the amazing positive energy I’ve received.   This was a long journey for me and it was something I was scared to do because I didn’t know how to be completely vulnerable.   When writing I am 10000% myself.   I’m honest, stripped, pure, raw, unedited, unmasked, and the list goes on.   Saturday, I decided to have a book release with my close family and friends.  I wanted my first signing to be intimate and personal.  I had a great time.  A lot of people have been requesting I have another one and I’m considering it.   I’d like to share a few photos from the event.

I’d like to personally thank everyone who attended, sent well wishes, and just supported me whether in person, via text, and/or message.  Words can’t express how thankful I am.

If you’d like to purchase a copy of 28, click the book on the right and it will lead you to the site for purchase.  I sign and ship each book myself.  I decided to make it that way because I wanted it to be personal. This is the main reason why the book isn’t available on e-readers, amazon, and Barnes & Noble.  I will probably do it with my next book, but this one is extremely personal and important.

A lot of people have been asking about the house on the cover.  That is the house I grew up in.   It’s located in Morgan City, LA.  It’s the location of my first poem.  I wrote it there when I was 10 years old.  I had to have the house on the cover.

Once again, I’d like to thank everyone for supporting me.  I will start blogging again soon, since I put it on hold to finish my book.  I will also post reviews as they come.  Thanks again!!!!  I love you all!!

Contest

So I guess I can announce the surprise now.  It’s official!!! ’28′ is complete and will go on sale March 17th.  ’28′ is my love story in poetic form.  I’ve been writing poetry since the age of 10 and decided I should share it with the world.  It’s the first book I’ve completed and published.  There are 28 pieces of happiness, sadness, tears, smiles, and growth in LOVE.   “Everyone has a love story…. here’s mine”

With that being said, I am giving 2 lucky people the chance to win signed copies before it’s released to everyone else.

Just because…

… I need a little inspiration.  Sometimes what you desire most is directly in front of your face.  I want to wish all of you a Happy 2012.  I will encourage all of you to remain in positive spirits and thoughts.  Get ready for a little SHEspiration.  Please subscribe to this blog if interested.  You will receive your first SHEspiration of the year Sunday!  The topic will be PROMOTION!    I hope all is well and everyone is smiling.  I’d like to share my recent inspiration.

 

This is the house I grew up in. Morgan City, LA  (across the tracks) to be exact…  You see a run down house, but I see more.  It took me a while to realize it because even when I went to revisit a few years ago, I wasn’t impressed.  I see beauty.  Recently, I had to write an essay and was reminded of this house.  I’ve lived in a lot of places, but this is and will always be the most beautiful place I’ve ever lived. This is where I had the most amazing dreams.  This is the house where I believed in my future and myself more than anything. This is the house where I wrote my first poem. This will always be home and there’s a part of my heart that sits on that porch and behind those doors.  I needed this reminder.  Never forget where you’ve come from…

After revisiting this house, I want this to be the cover to 28 since this is the birthplace of my writing.  However, I want someone to draw it for me.

Since I’m in a sharing mood

I’d like to share a piece you’ll find in 28…..

Because your hug wasn’t long enough…

Once upon a time I thought I inspired my own poetry.  Now I’ve forgotten how to scribe without first thinking of her smile or watching a love story.  This leads me to remember her embrace… I held on counting to 10 but, she let go at 7.  I pulled away slowly just to feel her skin.  [Well we were clothed]  But I wanted her cold cheek to graze mine and freeze for the additional 3 seconds she stole from me. Damn those 3 seconds!  I miss them. Yet I know nothing of their existence.  Almost doesn’t count.  Yet, I still believe in………. Magic!!!
